No shirt, no shoes, big problem

Today was another boring day at the office. Followed around some doctors and saw kids with bad hearts. The kids are actually awesome but shadowing isn't the most exciting thing. After work we decided to check out the Chinese restaurant that's just a few buildings down from us. Since Erin, Chase and myself aren't the most knowledgeable when it comes to Asian food, we all got fried rice. And I have to say, it was pretty good. We also made friends with some of the biggest lobsters you'll ever see...
Kind of hard to tell how big these things were but take my word for it. The poor guy in the top right is the next one on someone's plate

After dinner we were supposed to meet up with some British students who are also doing international rotations in Auckland. It was supposed to be a simple ordeal for a "quiet" drink. That drink didn't end up happening. First, we got going late. We were supposed to meet them at 9 but didn't leave our apartment until 9:30. Then we got on the Link bus which goes in a loop around the city because the area we were going to was only a few stops away. I guess we just weren't paying close enough attention but we got on the bus that was going the opposite way. So instead of being just a few blocks away, we ended up having to ride the bus around the entire city until it finished the loop. We finally got to the street where the bar was at around 10:30. After a fairly long walk down the street, we finally reached the bar! Jackpot! Well not so fast. As we were walking in the bouncer stopped the guys and informed us that we weren't allowed in this exclusive club in sandals. Are you kidding me? We just wanted to get a drink after sitting on this bus forever and we can't get in because of our footwear?

That Kenny Chesney was full of it when he said no shirt, no shoes, no problems. Or at least these guys didn't get the memo
Everything turned out alright. We found a nice bar next door and had a beer. We just feel a little bad for not being able to meet up with the other students after we told them we would. I'm sure they'll be understanding. Here's us at the other bar...

We made it back home safe and sound. And we got on the right bus this time! So now it's time to get ready for the weekend. We're heading down to Taupo and  tongariro. Ryan and the girls are going for a hike and Chase and I are going to hang out at the lake and go for a jet boat ride at Huka Falls. Should be a good time. We'll have an update Sunday night (or Saturday if you're in the US).
