MRSA = Blessing in disguise

The first day turned out to be pretty interesting but not for any medical reasons. We went to meet with the international programs coordinator who quickly informed me that I would have to take 3 days off with 3 consecutive negative MRSA tests before I could start seeing patients. I promise you I won't be crying about having 3 extra days off. So I got to walk around downtown all afternoon and find the lab to do my MRSA testing, which was on the other side of town. I liked the lady who did my testing because she handed me the cotton swab thing and told me to swab my own nose. You can probably guess how thorough I swabbed myself. Then I wandered around a little bit, met up with everyone else, checked out a happy hour down the street from us, and made dinner with the roomates. Here are the pictures to prove it.

I decided to take a picture of their version of yield signs. Kind of made me laugh

 Oh yes, they are turning Japanese. This was the happy hour outside a cool bar. Only $5 per beer. That's a steal around here.

 Look really closely at Chase. He's looking just like the creepy guy in the picture

Ryan got into the act too. I know the lighting isn't the greatest.

 This is their version of the space needle. There's actually a bunch of cool restaurants and bars in the area around it. And there's some sort of cafe up toward the top.

 This is Chase cooking our first homemade meal in New Zealand. That's some delicious spaghetti sauce he's cooking up there.

 And then there was Erin, the pasta guru. It was great.

 Ryan decided to go for the liquid meal.

 After the wine, Ryan gained some super powers and split an apple in half with his own two hands.

And everyone celebrated. Well everyone except Chase who was concerned about the red wine he just spilled all over the carpet. Look at Kayla's flexibility.
