This is what happens when you're born in a land-locked area

Today was another wonderful day of surfing but this time we managed to get some pictures of it. I don't have any great stories this time since I explained most of what we've been doing last night. Because there was a lot of screaming going on, I've decided to add everyone's comments during their surfing experience. Also, I've tried to organize the pictures by each person. Cindy and Kristin got all the good pictures.

"Look guys we found surfboards. I think you're supposed to stand on them or something." This is exactly what happens when you give surfboards to two guys from Kansas. And look at those studs in the wetsuits.

"Wait... you're supposed to put these in the water?" This is literally the only time all day the girls looked smooth on those things.

"Here goes nothing. Did we lose Cindy?" That's us braving the cold water and looking for some waves. It actually wasn't nearly as cloudy as it looked here.

"I can do this stuff in my sleep." Erin showing off her moves right before.....

"AHHHHHHH." They call this the 'seagull' where you flap your arms and scream before falling. Erin perfected it.

"What are you looking at wave?" I was giving the wave the evil eye.

There weren't any comments made here. Just trying to keep my balance.

"I'm so good I can surf standing straight up." Chase was actually probably the best of any of us.

Again, no comment needed to be made. Chase just riding a wave.

Chase had no idea what was coming behind him.

Kristin made it up. The person to the right didn't.

"Oh wow! These are almost as big as the waves at Shawnee Mission Park." Krisin on a baby wave.

"Hehehe... wheeeeeeee.... yippeeeeee."

"Uh oh, migraine."

"So you're supposed to stand on top of the wave, right?" Starting to see a trend? Kristin got up on her board quite a bit.

"Nailed it. Get that creepster in the background out of here."

More of Kristin. Looking pretty steady there.

"........." noise doesn't transmit through water. That was Kristin's board after she bit it.

Cindy looking like a pro.

I title this 'Cindy riding a Cindy-sized wave'. For reference. a normal sized wave is in the background. Cindy tended to stay close to shore and ride the little ones. But to her credit she did stand up on her board a lot.

"Wheeeeeee!"

"Can't stop me. Can't stop me. Come on wave, take me to the promised land."

That was an awesome surfing trip. We're back in Auckland now, hanging out in a hostel for the night then taking off for Nelson tomorrow. Then we're going to the wine region on Thursday and Friday. Wish us luck!
